What is Batata?
Batata is a mobile and web gaming platform where small games appear in a vertical feed. Each game starts instantly, without a download, and a typical run lasts under a minute. Players swipe between games the way they swipe between short videos.
Is Batata free?
Yes. Batata is free to play on the web and in the app. There are no paid games, no in-game purchases, and no ads inside games.
Where can I play Batata?
Batata runs in any modern browser at batata.world, and as an Android app. An iOS app is in progress.
Who makes the games on Batata?
Batata makes every game on the platform in-house. There is no user-uploaded content. Each game is reviewed for quality, loads in seconds, and is designed to be understood in under five seconds.
Do I need an account?
No account is needed to play. An account is needed to keep scores across devices, follow other players, message friends, and appear on leaderboards. Sign-in is an emailed code or a Google account. There are no passwords.
How do challenges work?
A player sends a challenge link for a specific game. The link opens that game directly, shows the challenger’s score during play, and reports back whether it was beaten. Challenges work between friends on the platform and through shared links outside it.
How do leaderboards work on Batata?
Every game on Batata has its own leaderboard with two scopes: Global, ranking all players, and Friends, ranking only people you mutually follow. The top three places show numbered gold, silver and bronze medals. Scores are verified on Batata’s servers before they count.
Can I talk to other players on Batata?
Yes. Batata has comments on every game, direct messages and group chats between friends, message reactions, and voice notes. Messaging is friends-only: two players can chat once they follow each other.
What kinds of games are on Batata?
Batata’s catalogue includes arcade, puzzle, reflex and quiz games, such as Bird Hop, Sweet Swap, Stack Up, Guess the Flag and Street Shift: Sizzle. Every game is played in portrait with one thumb, lasts under a minute per run, and is made in-house by Batata.
What does “Batata” mean?
Batata means potato in Arabic and several other languages. The company is named after it because it is short, warm, and impossible to say seriously.
Can I play Batata without downloading anything?
Yes. Open batata.world/feed in any modern browser and the first game is already running. There is nothing to install. The Android app is the same feed with notifications and an icon on your home screen.
What is the minimum age for Batata?
Batata is for people aged 13 and over, and a birth date is required to create an account. Each game also carries its own youngest age, set by Batata. A game rated above the app's rating is shown only to accounts whose birth date allows it, on every surface including shared links.
How does Batata make money?
Batata sells nothing today. There are no ads inside games, no purchases and no paid games. The studio is building the catalogue and the audience first.
What is the Batata Score?
The Batata Score is a lifetime number on your profile. Every completed run adds its score to it, and it never goes down. It climbs through eleven ranks, from Raw to Chef, with Golden just below the top. It is a flex, not a race: there is no leaderboard of Batata Scores, so it needs no verification machinery of its own.
How do streaks work?
A streak counts days with a finished run, by the UTC calendar day, so two runs in one day are one day. A streak stays alive for 48 hours after the last run, which gives you one day of grace, and a reminder goes out while the grace is running. Milestones come at 7, 30, 100, 365, 500, 730 and 1,000 days.
Can I play Batata on a computer?
Yes. Batata runs in a desktop browser at batata.world/feed, and the keyboard is forwarded to the game where it makes sense. The phone app is the same feed with notifications and an icon on your home screen.
What languages does Batata speak?
Thirteen: English, Arabic, Brazilian Portuguese, Latin American Spanish, Indonesian, Malay, French, Turkish, Hindi, German, Japanese, Korean and Thai. The interface, this website and the legal pages exist in all of them, Arabic right to left. A game keeps its own words; its title is shown in your language when the title is a word rather than a name.
Does Batata work offline?
Batata needs an internet connection to play. The games are served from Batata's games origin and every score is verified on the server.
How do I report a game, a comment or a player?
Every comment, message and profile photo can be reported from the app, and a game can be reported from its share sheet. Blocking a person hides their content and cuts follows both ways. Reports go to a queue read by Batata's team.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Settings, then Account, then Delete account. Without the app, batata.world/legal/delete-account explains the steps. Your data is erased after thirty days, a delay that lets you change your mind.
Who is Mr. Batata?
Mr. Batata is the potato who hosts Batata's social channels: a yellow potato in a bucket hat and a black hoodie who has played every game on Batata, most of them badly, and takes your high score personally. He appears on social media and on this website. Inside the app you will only find the plain potato from the logo.
